Do you like to get a deal, buy wholesale or below wholesale price? The idea isn’t as far-fetched as it seems. You can buy wholesale and use or sell bulk wholesale buying in wholesale lots to reduce the unit cost of every item.   

To participate in the wholesale market you do not have to open a retail store and sell your goods, you do not have to open a business to sell to and distribute products to retailers. Consider the beauty salon that sells hair clips, nail polish and specialty shampoos. Perhaps you own a sporting goods store and you want to buy related products to sell to clients. You can purchase sweat bands, hats, team logo key chains and other items to sell in your shop. And consider some home based businesses that buy wholesale goods like spa products, vitamins, plastic storage containers, makeup and kitchen utensils and sell them in their homes or through neighbor or corporate parties.  

Wholesale products come in all shapes and sizes and with the burgeoning manufacturing markets in China and Thailand, can be purchased for a song. Keep in mind that if you wish to import your wholesale products, you will be entering a more complex business model. Here the mysterious world of import, export, tariffs and contracts applies so if you want to start small and simple, you should limit your wholesale merchandise to what you can buy from a below wholesale distributor or a wholesale distributor. You can still sell your products below retail cost and make a profit, but if you work in this way you will not have to deal with imports.

If you do not already have a small business and you don’t want to carry stock, you may not want to actually buy wholesale goods and sell to individuals. You can also research the opportunities to become an agent, setting up deals between clients and suppliers. You can earn 3-5% of the cost of the product as an agent. Not bad for someone who doesn’t carry stock or ever touch the product. If you want to work through a wholesale dropshipper you can sell wholesale products online, paying for the products only after you arrange the sale and shipment. You buy the product from the wholesale supplier and someone else acts as the dropshipper so you don’t rent space for inventory or stock to run your business.

When considering wholesale purchases and sales, you must decide which option you will use to take advantage of wholesale product costs and make money in the retail market. Once you have decided which option is right for you, research the available wholesalers and distributors and their products and services, get references, and get moving with your wholesale opportunity.
